Founded in 1985 as a non-profit organization, the Foundation is comprised of business and community leaders in the East San Gabriel Valley area. Itsmembership and volunteer network have grown since that time, but its objectives have remained fixed - to help those in need. Specifically the Foundation has chosen to concentrate its efforts toward generating funds to contribute to various organizations dealing with the mentally challenged, physically handicapped, abused and disadvantaged youth in our surrounding communities.
RODEO PROCEEDS CAN CHANGE A CHILD'S FUTURE
In the first 24 years of the Industry Hills Rodeo, the Foundation has donated
over $1,700,000 to various organizations in keeping with its objectives,
including $84,000 contributed this year from proceeds of the 2009 Rodeo.
Since their first Charity Rodeo in 1986, the Foundation has donated to Delhaven
Community Center. Their programs service over 20,000 individuals a month and
include after-school recreation Monday through Friday at Delhaven as well as at
Baldwin and Valinda elementary schools. One-on-one tutoring is provided for
children with special needs or homework assistance, and are specialized for
children with emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. Leadership training
programs are also provided for junior high through college-age young adults at
no cost.
Summer Campership grants this year helped to provide over 1,500
participants--both children and the mentally challenged--an opportunity to enjoy
exciting summer fun, trips, swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, campfire
activities, special events, guest speakers, educational experiences and much
more.
In addition, Delhaven offers a wide variety of activities for the mentally challenged population, including: State licensed day care facility - Summer camps - Traveling Club - Square dancing - Sports programs - Special events and Weekend Round ups.
