Rodeo Volunteer of the Year
Anna Lee Farber is the 2011 winner of this prestigious award. She has been an active member of the Rodeo Committee for five years. In 2006 Anna Lee was asked to volunteer as head of the Charity Pro Rodeo’s Silent Auction. It is a fundraising activity held during the Welcome Party Dinner and Dance for Sponsors and Contributors on the Friday evening before the Rodeo weekend.
Beginning in May of each year, members of the Rodeo Committee and staff solicit donated items for the Silent Auction. Once donations start arriving, Anna Lee’s responsibilities begin. She inventories the items and then designs, shrink-wraps and decorates numerous baskets containing donations that logically fit together.
For donations in the form of certificates, tickets, vouchers and other “paper,” she individually packages the items in envelopes and creates an illustration for display with the bid sheets. And, of course, every silent auction item needs a bid sheet.
On the day before the Welcome Party, Anna Lee and other dedicated volunteers set up and decorate the Silent Auction tables. Then during the Party, she and the other volunteers make sure the Silent Auction runs smoothly by assisting at the tables, answering questions, distributing purchased items, and cleaning up.
Typically, the Silent Auction sells about 130 items. However, during one memorable year, there were 183 items for sale. Whew!!!
We sincerely appreciate the dedication and creative talent Anna Lee brings to the Industry Hills Pro Rodeo, and we thank her for her service. The Rodeo Steering Committee is happy to select her as this year’s Volunteer of the Year.
